That’s easy! We all know that the salt particles from salt water can become dried and lodged into the zipper teeth causing corrosion, damage and sometimes an “impossible to open” zipper. The best way to avoid these problems is to not only rinse your entire canvas down with fresh water when you return from your sail, but to then take a bucket a fresh water and a VERY soft toothbrush continuously dipped into the fresh water and lightly brush the zippers while opening them and closing them. For lubrication, we recommend using Bees Knees zipper wax or Vaseline LIP therapy. Be sure to use the non-scented LIP therapy (sold in the small tubes).
